The country code at the start and the end of your shift
For every shift the tachograph wants to know in which country you started and in which country you stopped. That is not an extra service of the device but a legal requirement, and it is one of the things most often left undone in a hurry.
What the law asks
Regulation (EU) 165/2014, article 34(7), puts it in plain words: the driver enters in the digital tachograph the symbol of the country in which the daily working period began and ended. There is no condition attached about the kind of work you do. What counts is that a shift ends and a shift begins.
Where it goes wrong
You give the starting country when you put your card in, the end country when you take it out. At exactly those two moments you are in a hurry: you want to drive, or you want to go home. The tachograph menu does not help, because you have to look up the country in a list while you see only two lines at a time.
How the app fills it in
VYS Mobile Tacho knows where you are and adds the country itself. If it is not right, for example because you are just over a border, you change it before the entry is sent.

For VDO only
Manual entry and ejecting from a distance only work with a VDO tachograph with Bluetooth. On a Stoneridge that is not possible, and we would rather say so honestly.
